Day 31-All Mixed Up

Today's challenge at 365 Cards is All Mixed Up.  Think in thirds on this one - Here's the challenge: Take an image (digi, stamp, etc.) and break it down into thirds - 1/3 no color, 1/3 patterned paper, 1/3 hand colored (markers, colored pencils, chalks, paint, etc.).  It doesn't have to be in perfect thirds, just broken down into three parts.  I used today's free image from Stretch 'N Bubbles.  Have a great day!

Last Weekends Sewing Adventures

I have been working on a little sewing project for our sparks at church, in 2 weeks they are participating in the Sparks-A-Rama.  My husband and I are coaching them this year and one of the games is the sparky crawl.
The kids need to crawl across the floor against three other teams; it is a very crazy game.  Needless to say the crawling is rough on the kids' knees, so this year I decided to make knee pads for them.  Well I was almost done on Friday and my sewing machine decided to retire for the day, maybe forever...

Day 30-In Pieces

Today's challenge at 365 Cards is in pieces-use an image on the outside of your card, then use it again on the inside but don't use it in the exact same way.  I used one of the digital stamps I won from Stretch 'N Bubbles.  It's my son's 11th birthday today so I better go make him a card, I don't think he would like this one.  Have a great day!

Day 29-A Certain Sentiment

Today's challenge at 365 Cards is a certain sentiment-you have to incorporate "Hang In There" on your card.  I used the Sweethearts cartridge for the monkey and branch and letter stamps for the sentiment.  Have a great day!

Day 28-Super Sketchy Sunday

Today's challenge at 365 Cards is super sketchy Sunday.  Here is my card for today.  I used my doodle charms cartridge for the cupcake.  Have a great Sunday.

Day 27-I'm Touched

Today's challenge on 365 Cards is I'm touched.  On this card, you need to have at least 8 elements (not counting the cardstock or any background paper) and here's the challenge - all those elements must overlap with at least 2 other elements.  I knew when I saw this challenge I wanted to make this flower.  It is 8 circles folded and slightly overlapped along with a button, sentiment, and a ribbon.  I learned how to make this flower at Dawn's Stamping Studio and have been waiting to use it on a challenge.  I made a few small changes-smaller circles and I slightly overlapped the petals.

Day 26-Card Recipe

Today's challenge at 365 Cards is a card recipe.   Ingredients:
5x5 card
3 circles
2 squares
ribbon
sentiment of your choice
To meet the requirements of this challenge, you must not stray from the recipe above -- use only those ingredients.
Here is my card for today.  I have fabric that matches this paper so this card will be great when I make a bag I will have a matching card.  Have a great day!

Day 25-Do It Yourself

Today's challenge on 365 Cards is DIY- make your on glitter brad and/or pearl.  I took a glue dot on a brad and put some glitter on it.  I haven't worked with glitter before but I had a jar of it from my aunt, thanks Aunt Donna!   I would love to work more with glitter but I have to figure out the best way to use it and how to not get it everywhere.  Have glittery day, I know I will.

T-Shirt Bag

My daughter and I made a t-shirt bag out of her favorite t-shirt from when she was 4.  We followed the instructions in Jodi Kahn's book "Simply Sublime Bags".  This is a no sew bag, you line the shirt with duck tape and staple it together.  You can sew the bag but I didn't want to sew through duck tape.  You have to be careful when you put the duck tape on and make sure there are no wrinkles in the shirt. There are a few wrinkles in Amber's bag but it is still very cute!  There is a video here of Jodi on the Today show making one of her t-shirt bags.
I found instructions here for one that is not lined with duck tape and you sew the hem.

Day 24-Terrific Ten

Today's challenge at 365 Cards was Terrific Ten, ten different patterned papers on one card.  You can use more then 10 but you must use at least 10 different patterns.   I used 11 different patterns if you count the paper on the flower.  I was playing around with my scraps and made a "log cabin square" out of the paper and decided to post this card too. Have a great day!

Day 23-Stencil It

Today's challenge at 365 Cards is Stencil It.  All you need to do is use a stencil on your card.  I wasn't sure if I had any stencils but I found an alphabet stencil sheet.  I made a "hello" card.  I love this paper pack; it is the same one I used yesterday.  It is the best of K & Company and its huge 360 pages.  Have a great day!

Day 22-Movie Monday

Today's challenge on 365 Cards is Movie Monday.  The task is to use the poster, or anything about the movie (or if you prefer, you can use the animated version) to inspire your card.  When I saw the poster I knew I wanted to use this paper.  I haven't seen the movie yet but I'm pretty sure this movie is not as little girly as the animated version.  So I guess my card is inspired by the poster and the animated version.  Have a great day!

Cinch bag

I made this cinch bag for my daughter.  The fabric was left over from a curtain for my sister's bathroom.  We used a shower curtain so I thought this would make a great swim bag for my daughter.  I found a tutorial here.  I made it a little bigger but basically followed the instructions.  Now we just need summer so we can go to the beach!

Day 19 Imagine This

Today's challenge at 365 Cards is imagine this-the challenge is to think of cotton.  What kept running though my mind was-cotton the fabric of our lives.  I'm sure it had something to do with getting this image from Stretch N' Bubbles.   I really think this girl is cute.  I need to work on my coloring, any tips?  I probably need better tools.    Have a great weekend!

Lily the Black Bear

We have been watching Lily the Black Bear in our home since January.  Lily is a bear living in Ely Minnesota at the North American Bear Center.  There is a web cam installed just outside of Lily's den.  If you go to the site you can watch live feed of Lily and her cub, Hope, who was born January 22nd.  Sometimes you just see Lily's back sometimes you will see the cub, you often can hear the cub.  As it gets warmer and Hope gets bigger you can see and hear her more every day.  It has been fun checking in on her.  Lily and Hope have left the den, it has been fun watching her.

Day 11 -Lovely Landscape

Today's challenge was Lovely Landscape-the background of the card needs to use pattern paper and the card should be an outdoor theme.  I want to thank everyone for all the sweet comments on my cards.  Being a new blogger and card maker it has been so encouraging.  Thank-you!  Have a great day!  I used my sweetheart cartridge for the tree.  Day 11 -365 Cards

Day 10-Wacky Color Wednesday

Today's challenge was wacky color Wednesday- blue, purple and orange.  I decided to make a paintball card.  My boys love paintballing and they have a birthday party to go to this week.  I used my everyday paper dolls cartridge and I think this is supposed to be a rain splat.  I made it purple, blue, and orange and now it's a paint splat.  It passed my son's approval so I'm calling it a paintball card.

Cheap and Easy Pendants

I think we might make these this year for my daughter's birthday party.
There is a tutorial here http://wheredoyoufindthetime.blogspot.com/2009/10/cheap-and-easy-pendants.html
I found my glass stones at the dollar store
and the jump ring, spacer, and glue at Hobby Lobby.
I like using the oval shaped rocks and my fabric catalog for the paper.  You can use a picture from any magazine.   You have to make sure when you mod podge the paper on you press all the air out.

Day 4 White Space

White Space challenge-
you follow the sketch below, keeping all decorations in the blacked out areas:

Here's my card for today:
